Equinox Summer Sunrise yoga at Hamyard Hotel

IMG_0322Depending on what the weather’s doing when you’re reading this – this summer chilly thunderstorms, depressing cloud or a bit of actual sun seem to be regularly interchangeable – the idea of doing some yoga outdoors on a rooftop could seem like a questionable or fantastic idea. But when it’s the very posh and exclusive Hamyard Hotel, though (Taylor Swift was totally staying there a few weeks ago) – with its beautiful views from the middle of Soho and, importantly, a covered section on the roof to guard against rain – you can pretty much always go with the ‘fantastic idea’ option.

Taking place until the end of this month, premium gym chain Equinox is putting on weekly Summer Sunrise sessions. Sure, it’s an early start (7am for a 7.15am start), but you’ll get 60-minutes of Sunrise flow vinyasa yoga taught by a top Equinox instructor, followed by a delicious cold-pressed juice from PRESS London to set you up to be a bit smug for the rest of the day.

The sessions are billed as being for all abilities, but when I headed down there for a try, I must admit I found it pretty challenging. There are different options for those who do and don’t fancy standing on their head, though – and if it gets a bit much at any point, just hunker down into child’s pose until you want to join in again.

Tickets cost £20, and the next session is on 20 July. Get them now.
